So we finally arrived at the final round of fixtures and the action was down the bottom of the division as Lillestrom, Tromso, Stabaek and Bodo/Glimt battled it out for survival. Here is what happened on a dramatic final day:-

Rosenborg 2 Bodo/Glimt 1 Att: 17,732
Bodo/Glimt were relegated from the top division along with Start after defeat at Champions Rosenborg after all their relegation rivals won their final games. The hosts went ahead through Mushaga Bakenga‘s 34th minute strike and they doubled their lead on the hour mark through Holmar Orn Eyjolfsson and despite Fitim Azemi handing the visitors a lifeline on 69 minutes they coud not find a leveller and drop into the OBOS-Ligean for 2017. Rosenborg finish the season with a win and see them take the title by 15 points and now have a cup final to contend in two weekends time.

Brann 2 Sarpsborg 08 1 Att: 17,686
Bergen side Brann made sure they finished runners up to Rosenborg after a home win over Sarpsborg 08. Jakob Orlov put the hosts in front on 18 minutes and they doubled this advantage through Gilli Rolantsson two minutes before the break. Patrick Mortensen netted a stoppage time consolation for the visitors but the hosts took the points to cap a memorable first season back in the top flight. Sarpsborg also finish sixth which is a great achievement for them.

Viking 0 Valerenga 2 Att: 11,347
Oslo side Valrenga ended their season with a win in Stavanger against Viking to end the season in tenth. Moa put the visitors in front two minutes before half time and they sealed the points in stoppage time when Magnus Grodem netted and saw the away side end seven points above the bottom three after spending alot of the season in it. Viking end the season disappointingly but do finish in eighth.

Lillestrom 1 Molde 0 Att: 6,233
Malaury Martin struck with twenty minutes to go to give hosts Lillestrom a home win over Molde which guaranteed their survival. The home side finish three points above the bottom three whereas Molde end the season in fifth spot.

Stabaek 3 Start 0 Att: 4,350
Hosts Stabaek knew if they won and Bodo/Glimt lost they would go above them into the relegation play off spot and give themselves a great chance of survival. And the hosts duly put in argubly their best performance for some time and against already relegated Start they found a side whose season was already over so once the hosts struck two goals in five minutes from Ohi Omoijuanfo either side of the half hour mark the result was not in doubt. Alanzinho added a third with fifteen minutes to go and then all that was left was to see the scores from elsewhere. Had Tromso or Lillestrom lost then the Nadderud side would of jumped them both and survived but with both winning that wasn’t going to happen, however Bodo lost so the Nadderud side live to fight another day.

Tromso 3 Odd 1 Att: 3,678
Hosts Tromso knew a win would guarantee top flight football for next season and they had a dream start against third placed Odd as Aron Siguardarson and Sofien Moussa had them two up inside the quarter hour mark. However when Oliver Occean got one back on 66 minutes nerves would of begun to fray a little but with twelve minutes left the hosts sealed the points as Runar Espejord netted to make sue the Alfheim Stadion side are in the top division for 2017. Odd finish third but had already qualified for Europa League football last weekend.

Haugesund 1 Stromsgodset 1 Att: 6,380
These two had nothing but pride to play for on the final day and fourth against sixth ended all square at the Haugesund Stadion in Rogaland. Liban Abdi put the hosts ahead on 26 minutes but Filip Kiss levelled from the spot on the half hour for the visitors to make sure they grabbed a point.

Sogndal 2 Aalesund 4 Att: 2,864
Aalesund finished the season with a flourish as they remained unbeaten since mid August after a 4-2 win at Fosshaugane Campus against Sogndal. They had to battle back from 2-1 down as well as the hosts started well and took the lead through Christophe Psyche on 3 minutes and although Mos levelled on 12 minutes the hosts retook the lead through Martin Ramsland on 17 minutes. However only six minutes later Aron Thrandarson equalised and then ten minutes before the break Edwin Gyasi put the visitors ahead. And it was left to Taijo Teniste to put through his own net fourteen minutes from time to seal the points for the away side who finish the season in ninth, whilst Sogndal finish two places below them in 11th.

So the final shakedown sees Rosenborg take the title although we knew that for weeks anyway, whilst Brann finish runners up and Odd third. Bodo/Glimt and Start are relegated to the OBOS-Ligaen whilst Stabaek await the winners of the First Division promotion play offs to play for a place in the top league for 2017.

The first two games of that took place at the weekend although only one was completed, here is what happened:-

Jerv 1 Mjondalen 0 (match abandoned at half time due to a waterlogged pitch)
The match in Grimstad was brought to an early conclusion after the referee deemed conditions unplayable after continuous heavy rain left too much water on the playing surface. Eric Haugstad had given the hosts a ninth minute lead. However the game will not be replayed but restarted at midday on Saturday November 19th so the teams will just come back to play the second half with Jerv still holding that 1-0 lead.

Sandnes Ulf 0 Kongsvinger 2 Att: 1,262
Cup finalists Kongsvinger kept up their chances of promotion to the top flight alive with a victory at the Sandnes Stadion against Sandnes Ulf. Adem Guven put the visitors ahead on nine minutes before the same man netted in stoppage time to seal their passage into the next stage of the play offs. They meet the winners of the Jerv Vs Mjondalen tie to determine who take on Stabaek in the two legged play off tie for promotion.
So lots of action still to come, i’ll be back soon with a round up of all the goings on.
